Large kilim carpet, circa 1970s.
Handwoven kilim carpet in pure wool with a patchwork-like composition of varied geometric patterns. The carpet features a broad spectrum of pink, red, blue, green, yellow, purple and earthy tones. Individual fields combine stripes, triangles, diamonds and other geometric motifs in a vibrant composition.
Material: Pure wool.

Bio:
Kilim refers to a flatweaving technique without pile, in which patterns and fields of colour are formed directly through the weaving process. The technique occurs in several weaving traditions and is particularly suited to geometric compositions. The origin of this carpet cannot be securely determined from the available information and appearance alone.
